Mandevilla hybrid

Early spring to late autumn.

Sun Parasol® plants have a climbing habit. However Sun Parasol® Classic plants tend to remain as a shrub when exposed to full sun conditions.

Sun Parasol® Pretty plants are climbers by nature and produce lots of flowers due the plants strong branching habit. Pretty varieties require trellis or another structure, such as a fence or pergola for support. Pretty varieties are generally the first to flower during spring, followed by the Classic varieties, and then the Giant varieties. As a potted plant, Sun Parasol® Pretty plants are also well suited for spending several days inside the home, while returning outside once flowering has finished or just for some fresh air!

Sun Parasol® Classic plants are generally used as small shrubs when grown under full sun conditions, or as a climbing plant when grown under filtered light. This makes Sun Parasol® Classic plants the most versatile of all the Sun Parasol® types. Sun Parasol® Classic plants make the most stunning hanging baskets as well.

Sun Parasol® Giant plants have very large sized flowers and a strong climbing nature. Sun Parasol® Giant Crimson has large bright red flowers that create the most amazing affect when the plant is in full flower....a real show stopper! Sun Parasol® Giant plants are ideal for growing in large decorative pots with trellis support. Their quick growing habit, combined with regular pruning, will produce stunning displays within one season. Sun Parasol® Giant plants may lose some or all leaves under cold and frosty conditions, but will regrow in the spring.

Sun Parasol® performs best when exposed to full sun conditions. Plants may lose some or all leaves when exposed to cold (< 10ºC) and frosty conditions, but will regrow in the spring.

Water adequately but not excessively, Sun Parasol® prefers the soil to be kept on the dry side, rather than too wet. Prune as required to maintain shape. Due to the large amount of flowers produced by Sun Parasol® plants, they require a regular application of fertiliser. Use a high-nitrogen fertiliser. For plants growing in containers, apply fertiliser every two weeks; for plants growing in the ground apply fertiliser monthly.
